Just maybe, we'll miss our amazing hosts, Pam and Nicol the most. They've been amazing!
Liz with Pam and Nicol - great people!
Last night we were their guests for their first lobster of the year. They contacted a fisherman and we literally had "same day lobster!" As you can only imagine, it was wonderful. It was Lizzy's first time to crack into one. She's had a really shell-tered life!
This is the second time this year (third if you count DFW) we've watched early spring turn into early summer. Upon our arrival, many trees in the area were barren. Forsythia and Cherry were in full bloom. Next, they were replaced by the Lilacs and Apples. Tulips also had there time in the sun. Now, as we leave, everything is bright green. The lilacs are bidding adieux, but being replaced with other colorful flora. It's a privilege to be a spectator to this change of seasons - twice!!
Pam and Mother Nature are quite a team!
Nice parking spot!
Watching the Lilacs say good-bye.
This beautiful farm has turned our world upside-down
The weather is so compatible that we have seldom used anything but a little heat for warmth. Most nights the bedroom window is open. We're far enough north that it starts getting quite bright around 4AM. Shortly after that the wild turkeys arise to start their day. It's been courting season, so lots of gobbling at 5AM. The pond above is home to "Spring Peepers." I'm sure most of you have heard the term, but hearing and seeing these little critters first hand is quite a treat. Hearty souls, these diminutive amphibians don't seem to mind the chilly nights. That a said, perhaps their incessant chirping is their personal protest against the cold. Birds, too, abound including Rocky Hill's chicken population. Each new day brings with it quite a symphony. And yes, Pam and Nicol, pigs do fly - at least on Rocky Hill Farm!

So...today we clean, wash, pack and prepare for tomorrow's departure. It's a fresh new start with a fresh new ride (new to us, anyway). Hey, tomorrow night we'll be in Lake Placid and starting a brand new adventure. Like Maine, we've never spent any real time in the Adirondacks, let alone Lake Placid. We can't wait!
Very understated paint job...
...unfortunately, she rides like a Jeep!
We hope you ride along with us!!
Glad you're getting out of Maine before the big prisoner release. Of she rides like a jeep, she is a jeep. Have fun. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be riding dirt in no time. I can see a little KTM in that orange!
ReplyDeleteOnce you have had lobster, it is difficult to find another meal that compares.
ReplyDeleteAt least for me ...
Glad you re struggling to agree what was the best. It usually means you have had a few good ones.
