Day 76 - Meet Ruth

Ruth is the 98 year young mother of our neighbor, Beth. Ruth came to the US from Canada in 1946. She has lived in Lake Placid in her beautiful home since roughly 1970. It was a surprise purchase by her late husband. Ruth scoots around town in her 2004 Subaru Outback and could well be Lake Placid’s most senior resident. She is an amazing lady who’s greatest current concern is that she has not done her annual planting for this season. Her second minor concern is that she is having some difficulty mastering her iPad and the Internet. Her lovely home is full of beautiful treasures and pictures of her four daughters, grandkids and great grandchild.

Ruth heard we were in town and insisted we have lunch. The venue was originally intended to be the Lake Placid Golf Club; it's owned by friends of hers. Since the weather was a bit chilly for outdoor dining, she changed at the last moment to the Crown Plaza also owned by the same friends. As you can see for yourself, we weren’t slumming. During our meal conversation we learned a great deal about Ruth and Lake Placid, but a great deal more about our friend Beth. 😲

After lunch we followed Ruth (she could not board our Jeep, so she drove her Outback) to the golf club to see the incredible views she had originally planned to show us. We are grateful for our new friend in Lake Placid and for all the new scoop on Beth. It was a wonderfully memorable afternoon! Thank you Ruth!!

A quick stroll down Main Street before jumping in to Starbucks for an Internet fix. Along Main Street were some very nice views.

Main Street is at my back.

It rained last night and this morning, but the afternoon ain't too bad!

Can't wait for tomorrow!!
