Day 74 - Spectacular Day - Whiteface Mountain

After 24 hours of solid rain yesterday and last night we awoke to beautiful, clear blue skies. So we began with breakfast at the Breakfast Club (killer food, I might add) and then a morning of backwoods 4-wheeling near Onsiota, NY. Following that, we headed up to Whiteface Mountain. It’s a gorgeous road trip up to the Castle near the summit. From there we climbed the final 20 stories up to the summit. It was an energetic climb for old folks, but well worth is as you can see.

The trail was basically rails to hold onto while you picked your way up the boulder path.

Once at the top the views were quite impressive. We could see Lake Placid from our vantage point.

Lake Placid is the horseshoe shaped lake in the upper right quadrant

When we got back to the “humble abode” we needed some recovery time.

Much needed R&R at our luxury accommodations

  1. That looked like a tough climb but the ones that are are usually worth the effort. Great view !
